Sirkazhi Yoga Thatha

We were in the Sirkazhi temple where the Tirugnanasambandar supposedly became intelligent after drinking the milk given by Goddess Parvati.

Most people there in the temple would say the story how Thirugnanasambandar got this enlightenment. And ofcourse wait for the money you give them.

We were seeing the Sattanathar in the upper sanctum sanatorium in the temple when we met this Thatha (Grandpa in Tamil).

He was looking very poor- like the ones who would eat the Kovil prasadam and live their life.

We gave him Rs:10 simply. Suddenly, he sprung into action and became our guide. Even without our asking he started explaining the statues in the temple’s tower. Each statue there had a story behind it.

Then he asked us can we sit and talk for some time. We said why not. He faced the sun and sat in the temple’s corridor. And started asking us what we know about yoga.

After the initial Bla Bla about yoga, he gave us a very good session about a lot of things that matter. Like how to regain your eye power. Exercises for the Bowels. And he concluded the session with removing the strain and stress in our backbones. That would have definitely cost more than 250 bucks with a physiotherapist.

All for the initial 10 bucks we gave him!

And finally he came along with us to the entrance of the temple, said he came in his cycle and would take is cycle and leave and started leaving.

There are a lot of people who amaze me. This thatha is one of them.

We called him and gave him some more bucks.
