How to send eMail as BillGates and other things

with 16 comments

It is easy to spoof email because SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) lacks authentication. If a site has configured the mail server to allow connections to the SMTP port, anyone can connect to the SMTP port of a site and (in accordance with that protocol) issue commands that will send email that appears to be from the address of the individual’s choice; this can be a valid email address or a fictitious address that is correctly formatted.
So here’s how one can send spoof mail acting as Bill Gates or whoever for that matter:

1.find your target!.square in on the person to whom you will be ending the spoof mail.for example let us take the person’s mail id as exampleid@examplesite.com.Take note of the domain name(i.e., the part of the mail id that follows @).Here in our example it is examplesite.com.
2.We have to find a mail exchange servers for this domain for which we can use nslookup. This is how you do a nslookup:
open command prompt in windows, type nslookup and

enter. Now you would see a prompt like >.Type set type= mx

and enter. Now type the part of the mail id you noted down

earlier.ie.,in the example its examplesite.com
you would get a response similar to this:

Non authoritative answer:
examplesite.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger =
server3.mx.examplesite.com
examplesite.com MX preference = 20, mail exchanger =
server2.mx.examplesite.com

pick one of those servers and note it down.In the example case

it is server2.mx.examplesite.com.type exit and come back to

command prompt.
3.So now you have the Mail Exchange server to which you have to connect to.

4.To connect to the server we can use telnet. So type
telnet <servername> 25 and enter. In example case it is

telnet server2.mx.examplesite.com 25
you would get a 250 response which means OK state. And some custom message from the mail server.

5.From here on you need to type in fast and without mistakes,i would suggest typing in notepad before and pasting it when required.
type MAIL FROM: email address you want to spoof as>

for eg case:

MAIL FROM: billgates@microsoft.com
you would get a 250 response then type the following:

RCPT TO: <recipient email id>
for eg case:
RCPT TO: exampleid@examplesite.com
again you would get a 250 response. Now type DATA and press enter. Here you would type the header details of the mail you want to send.Type in the following details note down the spaces and colon also.

Subject: anything you want as subject goes here
To: put the Name and address of the recipient here.
From: Your Name can be as long as you want, but must be followed by an address.
Reply-To: Your Name can be as long as you want, but must be followed by an address.

for example case:
Subject: I am giving away Microsoft to you
To: exampleid <exampleid@examplesite.com>
From: Bill Gates <billgates@microsoft.com>
Reply-To: Bill Gates <billgates@microsoft.com>

Now press enter and start typing your message as soon as you

finished typing in the message press an enter and a .(The period

character is the SMTP terminate Character)
then type QUIT

for example case:
Hey buddy i got bored with my Microsoft so i am giving away it for you.
.
QUIT

yippee you have sent your first spoof mail by now.

with 3 comments

Among all other trash i recieve as forwards every day in my Inbox came this information

Government of India has an online Grievance forum at http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/

i checked out the site instantly.Good that the citizens have a common place to report to.The site is fairly good with tracking of our older grievances registered with them.So we have a system now that we were seeing till now in Films.Who ever has envisioned it and implemented it deserves a good round of appreciation.Good job fellas.

Is India’s wannabe Superpower status a myth?

with 5 comments

I was reading this article by Cait Murphy and one more related one by Ram,which seemed to suggest that India becoming a superpower is a myth. The superpower is one keyword that has hogged the limelight in Indian media for quite sometime now.And it is the same on which i am unable to make my opinion very quickly. It has become a compulsory requirement these days that you need to be highly opinionated. You have to form your opinions on Sex,religion, patriotism etc,or else you are considered one dumbass. So here i am trying to form my opinion on India’s new found aspiration to become a superpower.I had my doubts when Abdul Kalam was miserably failing to justify his statement that we are just right to dream to be more powerful in his book Ignited Minds. Why is that somebody have to be more powerful than others?I have heard these fanatics say as a indian i should not be supporting pakistani team. Why should patriotism be thursted upon me.Ok let me not deviate from the topic in hand. Each time I see a police man get the bribe without having a slightest feeling of guilt, the fanatics aka politicians make public statements of their fanatism(. “We no longer discuss the future of India,” Commerce Minister Kamal Nath told the Financial Times in a typical comment. “The future is India.”) and be praised for it i get more pessimistic of the possibility India as a country, developing.Moral integrity is something that seems lost forever and the rich poor divide is increasing omninously. There is a Indian now in the Top Millionaires of the world list yet India is so backward in the Human Development Index.I dont want to research and find the stats to indicate the dire state the ordinary people are.It is the oppurtunity to develop for the ordinary men and women thats more important than Tatas buying Corus. The present india seems to lost in the wild with some Statistics such as 8 percent growth. But the ordinary citizen of india remain in the status quo.I dont know how these statisticians make up these stats.I remember this joke –47% of statistics are made up at that moment.

Information Technology is believed to be thing that was what automobiles was to Japan,or electronics was to taiwan and china. But remember the high technology work still happens in the USofA.It is just the laborious work that is cost effective to be outsourced is being sent to India. We aren’t inventors or innovators we are simply the practitioners.Oh yes there are thousands of Indians out there in the west doing high tech work. But they dont contribute to the Indian Development. Its what that happens within the country that matters. We Indians have a bad reputation of finding pride in Some American Being An Indian. The message is loud and clear, for eg, Kalpana Chawla was born in India but its Nasa that she worked for and it does not account anything for Indian Developement. And above all she had already become a american citizen when she went to space.Dont take too much pride on her.Yes Indra Nooyi is from Tamil Nadu but she would care more about exploiting more indians to increase the pepsi’s revenue than would contribute to their developement.Dont take too much pride on her.The list grows but i stop here.

The drama which the Indian beaurocrats made in the run-up to the selection of Chief of UN was as ridiculous as the desperate housewives. They where so desperate to find themselves on the top,so desperate to show-off,so desperate to take yet another indian pride. Sashi Tharoor was made the Jackass.

I already had a post on the indian education system,so i am not going to deal it here. The primary education which needs to be addressed with atmost attention is being allocated a minuscule of the budgetery allocations. Who cares whether an indian goes to moon and take a photograph or rather a video, its the children who needs to go to their schools.I already had another post regarding the hardships the school children find going to school in one small area. Its just one sample out of the sample space there is a lot more stories out there.

We need to be more pragmatic and prove the mettle with actions and not with pride in the past.

Hanging Children and Cozy Men

without comments

I work in the so called IT corridor(Old Mahabalipuram Road) of the  Chennai  city.During my everyday journey to office i happen to see these school children of the local villages, who go the Government Schools on the road, struggling hard to get into the already full over its capacity Metropolitan bus(MTC) in order to reach their schools. Most of the times these little 7 to 14 years olds hang in the foot board of the bus to travel to their schools. The beaurocrats and the politicians speak of reducing the school drop outs but here are the children having hardships to even go to their schools let alone study there. Its a irony that the high tech buses that carry the IT workers to their workplaces ply on the same road in huge numbers. These buses normally have enough space to carry some of the school children on their way.Or atleast after leaving the IT workers, the buses are anyways free which could be used for transporting these children to their schools.C’mon its time the IT coz pay back  the preferential treatment and SOPs they get from the governments and act with some social responsiblity.

Function blues

with 2 comments

Yesterday i happened to attend yet another marriage function without knowing  who the bridegroom or the bride are.I dont from when i started disliking  going to these functions. Is it because they seem so unreal to me.Or is it because i am not a socializing fellow.Or is it because of their repetitiveness.May be a combination of all these are the reason.Yesterday i was dragged by my parents to attend the marriage. After a good deal of advice by my father i had to attend the damn thing. It started the same way yet again–a middle aged lady and a teen girl standing in the entrance of the marriage hall stood up and produced a artificial smile splintered the rose water on us.Its the most disgusting thing to let somebody do something to you without your consent.I really cant get any good reason for this splintering of rose water Is it because they find their guests stinking that they make sure they smell good. Then the introduction ritual was done to quite a few people. My father would introduce me to some middle aged and old aged men and woman who would manufacture a smile so unreal that i get curious to ask them how do they manage to produce that smile of theirs. But had to resist that. And quickly manufacture my own smile and reciprocate. They would ask the same old question which include where do you work? and where is it? and a few would go further forgeting all the basic ethics and demand how much the company pays me.I felt like saying them its none of their business.I had to resist again. Then i sat in a place from where i could enjoy the fusion music that was going on.But was promptly pulled out by my mother to introduce me to a someone. After the exchange of artificial smiles i sat in someother place now.The young kids where playing hide and seek. The middle aged women where speaking, speaking and speaking.I was curious to know what topic do they have to speak for so long. They where speaking about the Shilpa Shetty issue. One of them was arguing  that the  actress got 1 crore for acting in that programme. The other was saying “no no she got some lakhs thats all.”The ladies where certainly misinformed. I thought of  telling them the exact figures, then left the idea since anyways it wont matter. The men where speaking politics or something else again with a lot of prejudices and perceptions.I decided that i cant take it anymore. So did i  concentrate more on the music than on the ramblings. But i was not able to keep my thoughts from wandering .I could see the rich poor divide from the kind of dress people where wearing and from their body language. The funny theory that i came out with is the richer the women were the greater the amount of cosmetics they used and they are more likely to converse in English. And the in case of men its quite simple to distinguish them.I was lucky enough to escape from the eyes of my father when it was time to gift the newly wed or else he would have wanted me to come on the stage and give pose along with the couple.I feel really uncomfortable while giving these poses. It was the time for me to have the lunch.Had a stomach filling one. This is one place where i dont feel uncomfortable. So that was the end of 5 hours of my time idled away.I dont get this concept of mass gathering for the marriage.Oh yes its a great moment for the newly wed and thier families but why should so many people waste their time. Why should the host provide these gargantuan lunch for so many people.
